From the Chief Health Officer's Desk
I have long been committed to improving mental health care and I am proud of the important work U-M does in this space. It is fitting that in May, Mental Health Awareness Month, we welcome Dr. Kelcey Stratton as chief behavioral health strategist. She will lead faculty and staff mental and emotional well-being, a critical part of being a health-promoting campus.
Even as we enter a new pandemic phase, our public health experts continue to closely monitor COVID-19 activity.
And lastly, if you are going abroad this summer, remember to review important resources for traveling.

If you (or someone you know) could use extra support, we are here for you. Confidential online screenings, professional counseling at no charge and presentations and events for your mind and mood are always available to you. Learn more.

More skin cancers are diagnosed in the U.S. each year than all other cancers combined. However, when found and treated early, skin cancer can almost always be cured. May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, a good reminder to practice skin safety.
Before you head outside, check out these tips and resources to protect your skin and check for early signs of cancer.
